Gold Creek School offers an Instrumental Music Program in the form of a brass band. This is an auditioned band, with students in Year 5 having the opportunity to sit a music aptitude test to secure a place in the band for 2 years. Students participate in three lessons each week, and are involved in many performances throughout the school year as individual bands, combined with Senior Site band, or as combined bands with all Instrumental Music Program bands across the ACT.
Senior Site Band
On the Senior Site, band runs for 1 hour a week rotating within the schools timetable. If you already know how to play an instrument, you can come and join us – just bring along your own instrument, or fill in the form below if you are interested in hiring one.
If you would like to learn an instrument in band, you will also need to attend a compulsory extra weekly session - Tuesday's, break 2. We also have a Jazz Band for advanced students on Tuesdays Break 2 as well this year.
Band is free of charge to join, but we do expect students to commit for the whole school year. Information on instrument hiring is on section two of the form below.
INSTRUMENTAL TUITION AT GOLD CREEK SCHOOL
We now have piano, guitar, clarinet and saxophone instrumental lessons happening at Gold Creek School. Lessons are provided by Canberra Music Tuition, and the teachers come in during the school day to deliver individual or group lessons. If you are interested in getting lessons on any instrument (including singing!) please follow the link below for more information. If you are interested in learning an instrument that they don’t already teach at Gold Creek, they will find a teacher to send who can teach that instrument. If you have any questions, please let me know - firstname.lastname@example.org
